Understanding Diabetes Insipidus

Have you ever experienced excessive thirst and countless trips to the toilet? Yes? Well, you might be experiencing a condition known as, Diabetes Insipidus.

Diabetes insipidus is a rare condition in which the kidneys are unable to prevent the excretion of water. How will it be?

During the day, your kidneys filter your blood. Normally, most of the water is reabsorbed, and only a small amount of concentrated urine is excreted. In diabetes insipidus, the kidneys cannot concentrate the urine normally, and a large amount of diluted urine is excreted.

Understanding Diabetes Insipidus

The amount of water excreted in the urine is controlled by a hormone called antidiuretic hormone (ADH). Diabetes Insipidus is caused by a lack of ADH.
