Have you ever experienced and unintentional and uncontrollable leakage of urine whenever you cough, sneeze, lift something heavy, or exercise? Like you can’t even control your own pee from coming out while you’re in these circumstances?
If you do, that could be extremely embarrassing!
What you’re experiencing is a condition called Stress Incontinence also known as, Stress Urinary Incontinence. Stress Incontinence occurs whenever there’s a pressure placed on the bladder, leading to an uncontrollable loss of urine, emotional stress doesn’t involve here.
The bladder is the one responsible for holding our urine. So, for the urine not to leak, we need to contract our sphincter. But if we cannot contract them, then there comes the most embarrassing part, the leakage of our pee.
Who suffers from Stress Incontinence?
According to the National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NKUDIC), women are twice as likely as men to suffer from the involuntary leakage, most likely during pregnancy and after child birth, wherein they manifest pressure on the bladder due to the growing fetus inside the womb and weak sphincter, respectively.
